About Us

About the founder: Home Musicology was founded by Sarah Kurtz. She fell in love with the piano as a young elementary school student when someone played "Chariots of Fire" at a school talent show. She just knew she had to learn to play the piano, so she begged her parents for lessons, and hasn't looked back, taking over 10 years of private lessons, and spending countless hours "tickling the ivories." She has enjoyed using her piano skills to accompany various vocalists and instrumentalists, play for a number of churches and special events, and of course to teach! She began giving lessons as a teenager and has taught off and on throughout college and adulthood. Her inspiration to start Home Musicology came when her waitlist for lessons grew to over 20 families. So, she dreamt up a way to find teachers and connect them with students throughout the Colorado Springs Area. She is a homeschool mom, living on a small hobby farm in Black Forest.

About Home Musicology: At Home Musicology, we search for the very best teachers in the area and match them with students (both children and adults) wanting lessons in their home in the Colorado Springs area. We offer weekly 30-, 45-, and 60-minute lessons, depending upon the needs of the student. We offer lessons Monday-Saturday from 9 am to 9 pm. There is no long-term commitment, only a monthly tuition that can be canceled at any time. We simply ask that at least 2-weeks' notice be given to allow the teacher to end lessons with the student on a positive note! But we hope that you will be so happy with your teacher and lessons that you continue for a long time!
